The ATGA represents the biosecurity interests of table grape producers, exporters and the industry. We are members of Plant Health Australia and signatories to the Emergency Plant Pest Response Deed.
As part of this commitment, our responsibilities include:
The ATGA recently agreed to a Biosecurity Plan for the Viticulture Industry which it plans to implement over the coming five years. The plan is a framework to coordinate biosecurity activities and investments in the viticulture industry and provides a mechanism for industry, government and stakeholders to better prepare for and respond to incursions of pests that could have significant impact on our industry.
A number of ongoing table grape investments relate to biosecurity, including:
Trapping efficacy in table grape vineyards for area wide management of Queensland fruit fly (TG19001)
Parasitoids for the management of fruit flies in Australia (MT19003)
Improving preparedness of the Australian horticultural sector to the threat potentially posed by Xylella fastidiosa (a severe biosecurity risk) (MT17006)
Improving the biosecurity preparedness of Australian horticulture for the exotic spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) (MT17005)
Review of the biosecurity plan and manual for the viticulture industry (TG18000)
Building capacity in area wide integrated pest management for Qfly in table grapes (TG18001)
